PACKAGE TRAVEL REGULATIONS

The combination of travel services offered to you is a package within the meaning of the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations.

Therefore, you will benefit from all EU rights applying to packages. Discover Adventure Limited (DAL) will be fully responsible for the proper performance of the package as a whole.

Additionally, as required by law, DAL has protection in place to refund your payments and, where transport is included in the package, to ensure your repatriation in the event that it becomes insolvent.

More information on key rights under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 please go to: Package Travel Regulations – Key Rights.

Please Note: not all Discover Adventure's trips constitute a package under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018.

DESTINATIONS

Many of our challenges take place in remote or under-developed locations.  Your challenge itinerary will specify the destination, number of nights and accommodation and distances trekked/cycled.  The information on our website is correct at the time of completion however this may subsequently change.  We will endeavour to always keep the website updated with any changes to itinerary, prices or dates.

ACCOMMODATION

Where possible we like to make use of local services including accommodation in order to support the economy of the country you are visiting.  This also gives you a more authentic experience; however you should be aware that this means the standards may not be the same as in Western Europe or North America.  Each challenge will have its own itinerary which provides details of the day to day challenge, type of accommodation and transport arrangements.

WHAT’S INCLUDED/EXCLUDED

Each challenge will list what is included/excluded in the package. Please refer to your challenge information for details on any transport, transfers, equipment etc.  Generally the majority of meals are included on our challenges; your trip itinerary will tell you if there are any days where these are not included.

TRANSPORT

Most flights will depart from London Heathrow or Gatwick airport, however for some of our short haul flights, regional airports may be used.  Depending on your challenge destination we may use low-cost airlines rather than the more expensive scheduled airlines we use for long hauls.  Flight details including airline, times and any stops will be confirmed several months before the departure date.

If you would like a land only cost for your challenge please contact the office.  We may not be able to give an exact figure immediately but should be able to provide you with an estimate of the price difference.

EXTENDING YOUR STAY

Several of our challenges offer you the chance to extend your stay by booking onto one of our extensions.  As these are not possible without undertaking the challenge these would be considered part of the package and therefore covered under the Package Travel Regulations.  If you choose to extend your return flight but not book onto one of our organised extensions, your accommodation and activities would not be considered part of the package and therefore only your return flight would be covered by this.  If you are at all unsure, please do give us a call to discuss.

GROUPS AND GROUP SIZES

All our challenges are group events and have a minimum and maximum number.  Each challenge page on the website will provide you with the minimum number of bookings needed for the group to run and we will confirm with you once this has been reached.

We can sometimes run groups smaller than the minimum; however these may incur an additional cost in order for this to happen. If this is likely, we will discuss it with you first.  All our groups are led by English speaking professional leaders from the UK or locally, although some of the local support crew and guides may have limited English.

SUITABILITY AND FITNESS

Please note that we are an adventure travel company and all our trips are designed to challenging.  We have 5 grades and these are shown on all challenges.  Please read the grades carefully in order for you to be sure these are suitable for you. A guide on the grades can be found here.

We will ask you to complete a medical declaration as part of your registration however if you have any concerns please do give us a call.  Some challenges may not be suitable for everyone or for people with reduced mobility, however we do try to be as inclusive as the destination, terrain and challenge permit!

PRICING

Our challenges allow several payment options – please read our Pricing Explained Guide to make sure you fully understand the level of commitment and cost of your challenge.  If a registration fee is payable this will be clearly shown on the challenge web page together with the remainder of the tour cost and any airline fuel supplement which may be due.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel insurance is compulsory for all our overseas challenges, including Europe.  You need to ensure that your insurance covers you for the dates of travel, the destination and the activity, including for any altitude or special activities.  Your travel insurance should also cover you for cancellation prior to departure, emergency medical assistance and repatriation.  We work closely with Insure2Travel who can provide you with a competitive quote for your challenge however if you choose to take out your own travel insurance please remember to let us know the policy name, number and emergency contact number as soon as possible.

PASSPORT

A full passport is required for all of our overseas challenges, and for some countries this should be valid for at least six months after the completion of your trip.  Details of this can be found on the FCO website.  Please can you ensure that your passport information on your booking is accurate in order to avoid any possible charges for making changes after your reservations have been made.

VISA

Many of our destinations will require you to have a visa and in some cases you may need more than one!  We will provide you with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO ) or embassy details for the country you are visiting and will support you as much as possible to obtain this, however it is your responsibility to obtain your visa and this is not included in your trip cost.

We cannot be held responsible for visa problems that are beyond our control - such as; embassy mistakes, changes to regulations or action by border officials.

CONTACT

During office hours you can contact Discover Adventure using our contact form on the website or by phoning, emailing or writing to us.  All our contact details can be found here.  We also have a UK 24 hour emergency mobile number which will be provided to all participants and crew prior to departure.

CANCELLATIONS

If you unfortunately need to cancel your booking, we would ask that you notify us in writing either by post or email.  Your cancellation will be considered effective from the date the notice is received. Registration fees, amendment fees and insurance premiums are non refundable and, depending on your payment option and how close it is to your challenge departure date, you may be liable for a cancellation charge.

Full details of all cancellation charges may be found in the Terms and Conditions of booking.
