We provide information free of charge to patients, their families and carers thorough our Sightline, multilingual website, booklets and leaflets. Our Medical & Scientific Advisory Committee provide fully qualified medical support. We also promote research relating to early diagnosis and treatment.

Glaucoma is still the leading cause of preventable blindness in the UK today.

You are most at risk if you are:

• over the age of 40
• have a close relative with glaucoma
• of African Caribbean origin
• are very short sighted
• diabetetic

Everyone in risk groups should have regular eye tests, at least every two years. The optometrist carries out the three tests that can help early diagnosis of glaucoma.
