Grief Encounter is one of the UK’s leading child bereavement charities, providing free support to children and young adults following the death of a loved one. Every 22 minutes a child in the UK loses a parent, 1 in 25 children under 16 will experience the loss of a parent or sibling. That’s over 41,000 every year, yet there is little recognition, support or understanding of the devastating impact of bereavement. Bereaved children and young adults are more likely to develop mental health problems including depression, addiction, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.
