Archaeology Scotland

Archaeology Scotland’s mission is to inspire the discovery, exploration and enjoyment of Scotland's past and we are the leading independent charity; inspiring action by communities, amateurs and professionals. We were established over 80 years ago and have gained a wealth of experience with community engagement, volunteer management and professional best practice. We have a core team of around 12 FTE staff, an extensive list of sub-contractors and a large pool of trained volunteers. We are a medium-sized charity with a turnover of just over £0.7m. Additionally, we can offer ongoing support to projects long after the period of funding as befits our charitable aims.
